Sister Emilian O’Mahony

Honoria, daughter of Cornelius and Ellen O’Mahony, was born at Drimoleague, County Cork, Ireland and immigrated to New Zealand at the age of 30. She was a qualified Maternity Nurse prior to her arrival having received her training at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.
Sister Dorothea Meade

Mary Hope was born in Wanganui. Her parents were Michael and Millicent Meade. The family of five girls and three boys lived on their farm, Whakahoro, in a remote corner of the Wanganui River...
Sister Thelma Backhurst

Thelma Backhurst was born in Auckland, 6 May 1940. Her parents were George and Gladys Backhurst. John her brother was the only other member of the family. Sister Baptist, her father’s sister, was a Sister of Compassion.
