Our places

We work actively towards the relief of human suffering through social work, pastoral care, prison and hospital chaplaincies, education, advocating for refugee and disadvantaged migrant communities and home and residential care of the sick and elderly.

  • Hiruhārama/Jerusalem

The settlement is set in a beautiful and peaceful location in a remote green valley beside the quiet waters of the Whanganui River. The Old Convent and St Joseph's Church at Hiruhārama reopened in 2026 following renovations. Visitors are welcome to take time out to reflect in this special place, surrounded by the sounds of nature.

  • Our Lady's Home of Compassion

The perfect place for rest, retreat and renewal. Encounter the charism of compassion and take time out to contemplate and reflect. Open Monday to Friday, 8am – 4:30pm

  • Suzanne Aubert Heritage Centre

The Suzanne Aubert Heritage Centre is open to visitors from 10am to 3pm, Tuesday to Friday. We look forward to welcoming you to this special place.

  • Archives

Our archives is a treasure chest of memorabilia of Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert and the Sisters. Visit us to know more.

  • Compassion Soup Kitchen

From the Suzanne Aubert Compassion Centre – or the ‘Soup Kitchen’ as it is best known – in central Wellington, we support people who are marginalised in our community to live with dignity.

  • St Joseph's Home of Compassion

  • Compassion Housing

Compassion Housing is a registered Community Housing Provider and a charitable organisation of the Sisters of Compassion Group. It has been providing housing for the elderly in Upper Hutt since 2000 and has taken over the ownership and management of the Horowhenua District Council’s community housing portfolio in Levin, Foxton and Shannon.

Our History

Suzanne Aubert's work is a story of faith, love, humanity and of course, compassion.
