Mary Josephine Casey was born in Wellington on 11 October 1873. Her parents were John James and Teresa Mary Casey (nee Pagon). Mary had wanted to join the Sisters of Compassion at Jerusalem-Hiruhārama for some time, but could not get away from home.
For my first ten years in the order I worked in Compassion facilities in New Zealand, principally at Island Bay caring for babies and children, as well as doing duties in the geriatric section...
Sister returned home in 1962. Thank you sister for your commitment.
