Margaret Hartnett was the younger sister of Catherine, and was born at Kanieri on the West Coast. She went to the Hokitika Convent School where she would have listened with rapt attention to Mother Mary Joseph Aubert speaking of the Maori Mission at Hiruhārama on the Whanganui River.
Teresa Johanna McGrath was born on 19 September, 1898, in the Parish of Ramsgrange in the Diocese of Ferns, Ireland.
