Her father was a policeman by profession and was frequently on transfer to various stations throughout the North Island so the family of eight children experienced many changes of schools and friendships during their childhood and adolescent years...
Mary Lenihan was born at Kangaroo Grounds, Victoria, on 7 June, 1888. Her parents were John and Maria Lenihan (nee Aspden).
Sister came from Houma, the same village where our Sisters in Tonga lived. While a Sister of Compassion she cared mainly for the elderly at Island Bay.
