Sister Ita Flannery

Bridget Cecilia Flannery was the eldest daughter of John and Ellen Flannery, and was born at Timaru on 12 October, 1913. Two of her sisters also entered the Sisters of Compassion: Sister Mary Joan and Sister Mary Adrian.
Sister Thelma Backhurst

Thelma Backhurst was born in Auckland, 6 May 1940. Her parents were George and Gladys Backhurst. John her brother was the only other member of the family. Sister Baptist, her father’s sister, was a Sister of Compassion.
Spirit of Sister Suzanne will live on as church-based rest home goes private

The ownership of the St Joseph’s Home of Compassion is changing from the Sisters of Compassion to Heritage Lifecare.
