Thelma Backhurst was born in Auckland, 6 May 1940. Her parents were George and Gladys Backhurst. John her brother was the only other member of the family. Sister Baptist, her father’s sister, was a Sister of Compassion.
Monica Cecilia Teahan, the youngest daughter of Denis and Letitia Teahan, was born in Temuka.
