Maria an Indian Fijian entered the Sisters of Compassion but Discerned the life was not for her.
Rhoda May Buckley was born and baptised at St Bathans, Central Otago. Her parents, Patrick and Margaret, were born in Ireland and passed onto their family born in New Zealand a strong Irish inheritance.
After her Profession in 1958 Sister Mary worked in the different Homes of Compassion before going to Loreto Hall to obtain her teacher ‘C’ Certificate.
