On International Refugee and Migrants Day, Sister Margaret Anne Mills shares her reflection on the opportunity we have to help and support those who come from far away to live in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Constance Miriam Mary Chard was born at Stratford in Taranaki, on 7 May 1912. Her father, Edward Chard, was born in England and came to New Zealand at a very early age, marrying her mother Amy Carter who was of Irish descent.
Margaret Mary Dawson was born on 16 May, 1914, in Lislea, Ireland. Her parents were Peter and Brigid Dawson (nee Quinn). Margaret Mary was the third child in a family of five, the eldest her brother Joe, and her sisters Maureen, Bridie, and Joan who was born in New Zealand.
