Irene Mary Barker was born on 16 September, 1910, in Auckland. Her parents were James and Mary Barker (nee Slade). Mr Barker was a boot maker. There were four girls and one boy in this closely knit family.
Patricia Josephine Cahill was born in Auckland on the 17 March, 1913, the third daughter of William John Cahill, Engineer, and Mary Anne Cahill [nee O’Leary] in a family of seven children...
Patricia Eileen, the eldest daughter of Arthur Henry and Margaret Elizabeth Greener (nee McDonald) was born in Christchurch. Several months later Patricia was baptised in Kilbirnie. She lived with her family in Westport until she entered the Sisters of Compassion.
