Mary Josephine Casey was born in Wellington on 11 October 1873. Her parents were John James and Teresa Mary Casey (nee Pagon). Mary had wanted to join the Sisters of Compassion at Jerusalem-Hiruhārama for some time, but could not get away from home.
Maureen Theresa was born in 1925; her parents were John and Mary Walsh. She had five brothers and was seventh in a family of nine. Maureen came from an Irish Catholic background, and Irish music and dancing were the loves of her life.
Doris Mary Seymour was born on 5 September, 1896, at Nelson. Her parents were Charles Alexander Seymour and Emily Madeline Seymour (nee Brunetti). Her father was a Postmaster and it is said he spoke fluent French...
