Mary Elizabeth Lavery was born on 1 September 1904, at Waubra, Victoria. Her parents were Bernard and Catherine Lavery (nee Fay). Australian born and proud of it, Ballarat had a special place in her heart.
Sister was a beautiful gentle nurse but had to leave the sisters because of health reasons. Paea continues to nurse at St Joseph’s Home of Compassion at Heretaunga.
Myra Florence Quelch was born in Invercargill on the 15 December, 1912. Her parents were John Hector Quelch and Sarah Quelch (nee Fotheringham). Catherine was the eldest of nine children – eight girls and one boy...
