Eily Norah Riordan was born at Lyttleton on the 15 April, 1895, the eldest of four – two sisters and a brother. Her parents were Thomas and Mary Riordan (nee Long). Sister Rosalie Allen
Agnes was born in Wellington, daughter of Julian and Agnes Allen. They met whilst on route to New Zealand where they married and settled successfully into their adopted country.
