Sister Joseph O’Leary
Mary Elizabeth O’Leary was born on 12 August, 1914; on the eve of the First World War. Mary was the second eldest in a family of four, three boys and the one girl. Mollie, as she was always called lived most of her early life in Petone.

Elizabeth was born in Meannee the daughter of Michael and Mary Devine. The family lived in a rural area of the Hawkes Bay.
