Ellen Mary’s parents were Michael and Johanna Roughan. The family of four children, one brother Edward and two sisters Winifred and Johanna, lived on a small life-style block of land in Miller’s Flat, Central Otago.
Mary Lenihan was born at Kangaroo Grounds, Victoria, on 7 June, 1888. Her parents were John and Maria Lenihan (nee Aspden).
