Compassion Housing – Property Manager – Upper Hutt

The Organisation:
The Sisters of Compassion have been serving communities across Aotearoa New Zealand for over 130 years, inspired by the vision and action of Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert. Today, Compassion Housing continues this mission by providing safe, affordable homes and pastoral care to older people and those in need.

The Role:
We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Property Manager to join our Upper Hutt team. This role supports the Compassion Housing Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of our housing services, with a focus on:

Responsibilities:

  • Office administration and compliance management
  • Financial management and accounting (Xero, RentHQ, ApprovalMax)
  • Tenancy coordination, rent roll and Healthy Homes compliance
  • Property and contractor management, including inspections and maintenance
  • Preparing reports for the Board, minuting meetings and supporting regulatory reporting

    This is a permanent part-time role (30 hours per week) based in Upper Hutt, with flexibility to negotiate some work-from-home arrangements.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is not only skilled, but values driven. You will bring:

  • Proven experience in office administration and financial/accounting management
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in tenancy or property management (preferred)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, RentHQ, ApprovalMax) and Microsoft Office
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and empathy for older persons
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Sisters of Compassion, with an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
