Our places

Hiruhārama/Jerusalem

The Old Convent and St Joseph’s Church are now open. Visit our settlement in a beautiful and peaceful setting, in a remote green valley beside the quiet waters of the Whanganui River. All visitors are welcome to take a time out and reflect in this place, surrounded by the sounds of nature.

  • History of Jerusalem

The Sisters of Compassion came into being in Jerusalem, NZ in 1892 when the Māori people invited Suzanne Aubert to the small settlement.
