Our places

Hiruhārama/Jerusalem

The Old Convent and St Joseph’s Church are TEMPORARILY CLOSED.

We look forward to welcoming you once we reopen. Our settlement is set in a beautiful and peaceful location in a remote green valley beside the quiet waters of the Whanganui River. Visitors are welcome to take time out to reflect in this special place, surrounded by the sounds of nature.

  • History of Jerusalem

The Sisters of Compassion came into being in Jerusalem, NZ in 1892 when the Māori people invited Suzanne Aubert to the small settlement.
