Mary Jane was born in Greytown, Wairarapa, the only daughter of William and Jane Donovan. Her parents owned a large and productive farm in Rangitumau, in eastern Wairarapa.
Rita was born in Opunake, the third daughter of a family of six, three sisters and two brothers. Her parents were John Sydney and Bridget Hickey (nee Coyle). They were a close knit family and very much part of the Opunake community.
Sister Alacoque left the Sisters of Compassion in 1958 but re-entered in 1959. She left again in 1978. Sister was very good caring for the babies and the children. Thank […]
