Sister Anne Galvin

Moya Josephine Galvin, daughter of Eustace Galvin and Margaret Jane (nee Lenihan) was born in Wellington on 12 November, 1929. She had two older brothers, Brian and Paul, and a younger brother, Bernard. She entered Our Lady’s Home of Compassion on 15 February, 1949, and made her First Profession on 15 September, 1951...
Sister Loyola Galvin

Sister Loyola Galvin (Johanna Mary Frances) was born on 12 May 1922, the second daughter of Adairine and Edward Galvin. In the family of two girls, her elder sister was called Von. The family owned a small farm in Hawera where her father raised poultry and owned many animals. Mr. Galvin was a French polisher by trade. Mrs. Galvin owned a drapery store and worked until she was 70 years old. On leaving school Johanna trained as a nurse at Wellington Hospital during World War II and graduated three years later achieving triple honours.
Sister Emilian O’Mahony

Honoria, daughter of Cornelius and Ellen O’Mahony, was born at Drimoleague, County Cork, Ireland and immigrated to New Zealand at the age of 30. She was a qualified Maternity Nurse prior to her arrival having received her training at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin...
