Eileen McDonald was born in Auckland on the 26 January, 1904, the second daughter of James and Rose McDonald. Eileen was baptised and confirmed at St Patricks Cathedral, Auckland.
Mary was born in Fairlie, the youngest of 6 children. She was educated at the local school and completed her secondary education with the Sisters of Mercy at Timaru.
After her Profession as a Sister of Compassion, Sister Sheila trained as a teacher at Loreto Hall in Auckland...
