Patricia Eileen, the eldest daughter of Arthur Henry and Margaret Elizabeth Greener (nee McDonald) was born in Christchurch. Several months later Patricia was baptised in Kilbirnie. She lived with her family in Westport until she entered the Sisters of Compassion.
Malia, from Tonga, trained to be a nurse at Wellington Polytechnic. After completing her nursing training she discerned that Religious life was not for her.
