This is a retreat day to explore together possibilities regarding contemplative prayer with and among the poor and people on the edges. ‘With this topic two intensely important strands of my life come together. I was brought up in India and lived for many years as a missionary in Bangladesh. Justice and  compassion for the poor have been instilled in me. Equally important to me are the individual, solitary times of contemplative prayer. I am rich enough and leisured enough to pursue this; but what of those whose prayer for daily bread is absolutely literal—and often goes unanswered?
