Personality and Purpose: Suzanne Aubert

February 12, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Jessie Munro, the award-winning author of ‘The Story of Suzanne Aubert’, reprises this fascinating exploration of Suzanne’s life.

Suzanne Aubert, a lively presence in Island Bay in her later years, lived a life of service and compassion.

Arriving in New Zealand from France in 1860, she founded the Sisters of Compassion in 1892.

In Wellington she began the Soup Kitchen and Our Lady’s Home of Compassion. Her response to social needs of the time continues to this day. Suzanne Aubert was declared Venerable by the Catholic Church in 2016 and is on the path to becoming New Zealand’s first saint.
