Lucy May Ward was born at Kingston, England, on 9 November 1905. Her parents were George and Flora Adeline Ward.
Mary Cooney Walsh was born in Gore. Her parents were Annie Marie Cooney and John Joseph Walsh. Mary was the only girl in the family of four. The family lived on their own farm at Menzies Ferry.
