Agnes was born in Wellington, daughter of Julian and Agnes Allen. They met whilst on route to New Zealand where they married and settled successfully into their adopted country.
Bridget Cecilia Flannery was the eldest daughter of John and Ellen Flannery, and was born at Timaru on 12 October, 1913. Two of her sisters also entered the Sisters of Compassion: Sister Mary Joan and Sister Mary Adrian.
Sarah Gallagher was born in Glenswilly, County of Donegal, Ireland on the 1 May, 1860. Her parents were Hugh Gallagher and Sarah Monner. She came out to New Zealand to be with her brother and family on the West Coast. After a while they went to live in Oamaru, but in the early 1880's they shifted to Wellington...
