October is a significant month in the life of Suzanne Aubert given that she died on 1stOctober. To celebrate her life and to help promote the spirituality and good works of Suzanne Aubert, the NZ bishops have agreed to support a Suzanne Aubert Celebration day on the first Sunday of October each year.
Rita was born in Opunake, the third daughter of a family of six, three sisters and two brothers. Her parents were John Sydney and Bridget Hickey (nee Coyle). They were a close knit family and very much part of the Opunake community.
