Violet Mary Vernon was born in Camberwell, Melbourne, on 18 May 1880, and entered St. Joseph’s Home of Compassion, Buckle Street, as a postulant in 1908.
Mary was born in Fairlie, the youngest of 6 children. She was educated at the local school and completed her secondary education with the Sisters of Mercy at Timaru.
Sister is the daughter of Mr Kraus one of our very generous benefactors who worked around most Homes of Compassion for many years...
