Sister was born in Tonga and had trained as a nurse in Tonga before entering the Sisters of Compassion. After discernment she decided to return home.
Clare Mary Brownlie was born on 19 October, 1892, at Brunswick, Whanganui, the daughter of James Brownlie and Nora (Nee Mullins). Her father’s two sisters were among Mother Aubert’s first companions.
