In her own words…

January 20, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

From 1871 to 1883 Venerable Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert was part of the Catholic Church’s Māori Mission in Meeanee, Hawkes Bay.
Her letters to the Church’s Marist leadership in Lyon, France are candid and direct about the vulnerable state of the people involved in the Mission, as well as those they came to serve. Her words also ring with “trust, affection, loyalty and unfailing commitment.” She may not have recognised it at the time, but these Hawkes Bay years would exert a huge
influence in the “Compassion origin story” – a story which continues today.
Join the Compassion Companions for a time of Reflection on a selection of the “Pakipaki letters”.
All are welcome – free of charge.
Bring your lunch.
