The year after Profession she became a member of the Māori Pastoral Team and was the Chaplain at Arohata Women’s Prison. During 2000 she was transferred to Aubert Centre in Flaxmere, Hawke’s Bay, and was the prison chaplain there until 2010. Sister Mata now resides at one of the Compassion units at Logan St. where she does Pastoral Work at St Joseph’s Church, Upper Hutt.
