Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert’s birthday will be marked with a special Mass at Our Lady’s Home of Compassion at 9:30am on Friday 19 June, followed by morning tea.

Born in France in 1835, Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert devoted her life to serving those most in need, founding the Sisters of Compassion in 1892 at Hiruhārama on the Whanganui River. Her work later expanded to Wellington, where she established the Soup Kitchen and Our Lady’s Home of Compassion. A birthday celebration is a moment to honour her enduring legacy of faith, service, and compassion that continues to shape those inspired by her.
