Compassion Fest ’23: Symposium on the life & legacy of Kae Miller
October 29, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Event Navigation
The local hero this year is Kae Miller, who advocated and acted for the benefit of refugees, mental health, and the environment. She inspired Bruce Stewart to build Tapu te Ranga marae out of recycled materials, and she started the movement to replant the South Coast with native bush.Island Bay Presbyterian Church curates the festival – a weekend smorgasbord of events that blend words, taste, actions, music, creativity, fun, acts of pilgrimage, and times for reflection.
This year, Home of Compassion will hold a Symposium on the life & legacy of Kae Miller, a panel discussion and a Q&A hosted by the author and commentator Max Rashbrooke, who will talk with Councillor Gabriel Tupou, Tapu Te Ranga Marae; Jo White, Education Coordinator of Home of Compassion; and Rev. Dr. Bruce Hamill, Tepū Mō Tātou.
