Visiting tenants and ensuring they have the support they need is the mission of Diane and Josephine , two nurses who joined Compassion Housing last March to work with residents in Horowhenua and Upper Hutt.
With extensive experience in both the private and public healthcare sectors, the advocate nurses began visiting units in April, following their induction with the Compassion Housing team.
“I have visited a number of residents already and have started building relationships and identifying their individual needs,” said Diane, reflecting on her first weeks in the role.
Diane has worked as a nurse for many years in both Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. She will now be visiting and supporting residents in the Horowhenua area, including Levin, Foxton and Shannon, an area she knows well, having spent her younger years there.
Josephine has had similar journey, having worked in community nursing for many years. She is committed to supporting the residents of Upper Hutt to meet their individual needs. “I’m focused on their day-to-day lives, making sure I can do the best I can for them with the skills I bring,” she said.
“Working with Compassion Housing is all about supporting people. The main thing is building relationships, being genuine, kind, and compassionate. I hope to make a positive difference and help people improve their quality of life,” added Josephine.
