I had the great privilege of living in Jerusalem/Hiruharama on the Whanganui River in New Zealand for a year over 2010/2011.

Celine entered the Daughters of Our Lady of Compassion in 1940, joining six other young and highly motivated women who journeyed through the noviciate program together thus making their Final Profession in 1946.

Recently the Chanel Home of Compassion, Suva held their Golf Day appeal. This was generously supported by many local businesses and friends of the sisters.

Wellingtonians again were very generous with their support of the Sisters donating about $26,500 on a fine and warming last Friday in July [which matched the Street Day collection last year].

With the new academic year fast approaching we became aware of families with children preparing for their youth leaving home, heading for far away places to continue or begin their university studies.

On Sunday 29th January 2012, 12 of us gathered in the welcoming meeting room in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Palmerston North, to celebrate the inaugural meeting to form, and be formed ourselves, as Associates of Suzanne Aubert.

On 23rd and 24th March the Directors and staff of Company Office travelled to Jerusalem to share ideas and explore opportunities for the myriad of services delivered by the Sisters through their Homes, Centres and outreaches.

The Sisters have a history of providing opportunities for volunteers for over 100 to work with them and their co-workers in the community providing a positive experience for cultural exchange for all parties.

On 10th November 2011 the Sisters of Compassion were happy to host a visit from Mr Francis Etienne, the French Ambassador. After visiting the chapel and Visitors’ Centre he enjoyed afternoon tea with the Sisters.

With the closure of Aubert Home of Compassion in Whanganui residents have been in the process of moving to other nursing homes.
